More classes will be added throughout the semester/year! An open hour will be available for anyone not able to attend the in-person class. Students and families will be invited to participatein our talent showcases! Workshops have a minimum enrollment of 5 students, and a maximum in-person participation of 15 students per in person group. Workshops will run for three weeks, with three 1 hour class per week. In the event that we are unable to meet in person due to poor weather or air quality, the class will be rescheduled for either in-person or online. Jumpstart UkuleleTeaching Artist: Aidan Evans
Ages 7 -10 Oct 5 - Oct. 23 This on-going workshop provides students with everything they need to start playing the ukulele! Using pop, rock, and blues music, we'll get started with the fundamental chords that allow you to play 1000s of songs. Students will also learn about the basics of pop/rock song form, including exercises in writing their own songs. At the end of the workshop, students will be able to play a song, and know the basics of writing their own. The only thing you need is a ukulele, all other materials will be provided digitally. Ages 8-14 Oct. 5 - October 23 A continuation for Intro SoundLab students, as well as a workshop for students with some experience composing on the computer looking to learn SoundTrap and dig deeper. We will continue to explore field recording outside as well as using our computer microphones to record voice, instruments, or sounds around the house. We'll put creative tools to practice, like audio effects and editing techniques, to further develop student work. Projects will focus on creating musical compositions based on moods or images. We'll also explore the collaborative possibilities of composing in pairs and groups on SoundTrap! Ages 8-14 Oct. 5 - 23 This class is an on-going study of music in video games and film. We will study the music of various video games and animated movies selected by the class and examine how the music helps in relaying the mood of the story of the visual images. Ages 8-14 Oct 5 - Oct. 23 This on-going class is for students who have at least one year of experience with Ukulele, and are looking to expand their skills. We will explore advanced chords and fingerstyle techniques, as well as improvisation and composition. Students will gain the skills necessary to learn popular songs, as well as the knowledge of how these songs are composed. Other topics covered include blues improvisation, chord melody, and major/minor tonality. Schedule
