Emerson (they/she) embarked on their professional journey in the music education field as a dedicated high school volunteer with the Bay Area Music Project (BAMP) during its inception in 2014. Concerned about the gradual elimination of music programs in local schools, Emerson felt a strong resonance with BAMP's mission to provide comprehensive musical education that fostered a lifelong passion for music and exemplified the transformative power of community. This formative experience propelled Emerson's deepening commitment to teaching, leading them to enroll at Sonoma State University, where they earned a bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies and a minor in Music. This educational experience fortified their knowledge and fueled their commitment to advocating for transitional-age youth and the broader LGBTQ communities throughout Sonoma County.

Currently serving as the Secondary School Coordinator at BAMP, Emerson assumes a pivotal role overseeing and instructing at the organization's middle school sites in Alameda and Oakland. Through their diligent guidance and instruction, they play an integral part in shaping the musical and cultural identity journeys of countless students, fostering their personal growth and igniting their passion for music.

Emerson's unwavering dedication to music education, combined with their profound commitment to youth advocacy and the LGBTQ communities, has consistently shaped their professional path. With a deep-rooted love for music and an unwavering desire to make a positive impact, Emerson continues to inspire and uplift others through their invaluable work at BAMP and beyond.
