Inspiring minds. Changing lives.
Bay Area Music Project (BAMP) is a purpose-driven, in- and after-school music education and social-emotional learning program that creates community amongst culturally and economically diverse groups of children and youth in grades K-12 Alameda and Oakland, California.
BAMP is committed to centering and uplifting students from historically underserved communities. We have developed various approaches that are tailored to the specific needs and circumstances of each school’s community such as: targeted outreach, partnerships with community-based organizations and cultural practitioners, and responsive programming design for each individual school. We also prioritize hiring staff and leadership from these communities to ensure they have a meaningful voice in our work. Over 230 students participate annually at four partner school sites.
