Jevohn Tyler Newsome studied writing/literature at California College of the Arts, following his passion for uncovering stories about the inner worlds of everyday people. As a mentor-in-training at the Ever Forward Club, Jevohn explores various styles of support that will best help students navigate social and emotional challenges on their journey through life toward adulthood. Jevohn works with kids on activities from the Million Mask Movement, a national-wide movement and tool to help build a deeper understanding of how much we have in common. Through mask making and sharing we discuss what we want people to see, explore how you can hide behind a mask, and what relationships you build. Though the activity is built for all ages, this exploration into identity and relationships is so vital for this pivotal stage in youth development. His vision involves using art, graphic design, and writing as a tool to create safe, creative spaces for our youth communities to unmask and build healthier, stronger relationships.
