Jo Anne Yada (known as Ms. Y. to her students) is a local art teacher providing classes and camps during school breaks. After a career as a museum educator in Fresno and San Jose, she is now actively a substitute teacher for AUSD and has become connected with school communities all over the Island. She loves telling her kindergarteners about David Bowie, Aretha Franklin, and The Ramones, connecting visual arts with music and modern culture.
In addition to teaching art to kids, she loves re-creating Mid-Century recipes, craft projects, and curates gallery shows at InkBlot Gallery, where she is a co-owner.
Jo Anne was voted "Best Artist" for 2014 in Alameda Magazine.
