We are seeking a Strings Teaching Artist for our after school program at middle school in Alameda, CA. This talented individual will be responsible for teaching lessons and collaborating with our Digital Composition Teaching Artist team for our StringLab program.

Job Description
We are seeking a Strings Teaching Artist for our after school program at middle school in Alameda, CA. This talented individual will be responsible for teaching lessons and collaborating with our Digital Composition Teaching Artist team for our StringLab program.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality instruction in upper or lower strings to students in grades 6-8 in group and/or individual settings
- Collaborate with the Music Director and fellow Teaching Artists to implement curriculum, pedagogy and values, music arrangements, and plan combined performances
- Act as a mentor to and build a positive rapport with each student
- Timely correspondence with the director, school staff, and parents
- Attend occasional professional-development sessions and planning meetings
- Assist with special events and field trips
- Has at least one year of formal music teaching experience with young people of different ages/abilities.
- Has a flexible schedule that allows for a commitment to the program for a school year
- Can work occasional nights and weekends as required.
- Is creative, motivated and energetic with a passion for creating an impact on the lives of young people through music
- Has exceptional classroom management skills
- Has experience working with youth from diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds
- Can cultivate and maintain a positive learning environment using positive behavior support principles
- Is able to communicate comfortably and respectfully with students, families, and administration
- Strong organization skills, matched by a sense of humor and readiness to adapt
- You are a professional musician or earning a degree in music education or performance
- Must pass live scan fingerprinting (background check) and provide negative TB tests
