Pay: $18.00 - $20 per hour depending on experience
Hours of Work:  Flexible Schedule -Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri 2:30pm - 6:00pm Wednesdays 11:45am - 6:00pm
Reports to: School Site Manager, Director of Operations
Organization Overview
Bay Area Music Project (BAMP) is an El Sistema inspired after-school music education program supporting the educational and social-emotional needs of children in lower income communities by providing high-quality music instruction, nutritious snacks and homework assistance regardless of abilities and circumstances. Our staff embraces both the social and musical mission of our program — they nurture both the individual person and the musician at the same time. 
Job DescriptionSite Assistants are responsible for the on-site supervision and safety of Kindergarten to 5th-grade students throughout program components for Bay Area Music Project. The position requires patience, ability to engage positively and professionally with children and families, and strong organizational skills. The Site Assistant is a mentor to all students and reinforces rules of safety, kindness, and responsibility in the BAMP community and beyond.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with check-in and dismissal processes during after-school programming
  • Manage children throughout transitions between classes (i.e., snack, bathrooms, lining up, hallways)
  • Assist with setup and strike of equipment for daily programming
  • Engage with children and families to foster positive relationships
  • Facilitate and model healthy conflict resolution between students
  • Supervise children during outdoor and indoor free-play time to ensure safety at all times
  • Assist in facilitating group activities such as crafts, sports, team building games, etc.
  • Assist with minor first-aid care as necessary
The Ideal Candidate has
  • experience with after school programs or camps or willing to learn
  • training or familiarity in restorative justice practices and trauma-informed care
  • the ability to adapt, be flexible and handle emergencies calmly and effectively
  • a sense of humor and creative problem skills
  • the ability to demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a team-oriented environment




Requirements
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Bachelor’s degree (or in progress) or at least one year experience in related fields
  • Must pass live scan fingerprinting (background check) and provide negative TB tests
